Messenger RNA Medicines Platform
Moderna is a biotechnology company built around messenger RNA medicines. Its platform combines mRNA sequence design, lipid nanoparticle delivery, automated research, clinical development, and large-scale manufacturing to create vaccines and therapeutics across infectious disease, oncology, and rare disease.
Commercial Respiratory Vaccines
The commercial portfolio is anchored by Spikevax for COVID-19 and mRESVIA for respiratory syncytial virus. Moderna is extending this respiratory franchise through seasonal influenza and combination vaccines intended to address multiple respiratory viruses with a single injection.
Broad Infectious-Disease Pipeline
Beyond its marketed products, Moderna is developing vaccines against influenza, cytomegalovirus, norovirus, and other viral pathogens. The company uses a common platform and manufacturing infrastructure across these programs, allowing clinical and process-development knowledge to be reused across vaccine candidates.
Oncology and Individualized Therapies
Moderna's oncology portfolio includes intismeran autogene, an individualized neoantigen therapy being developed with Merck in combination with KEYTRUDA. The broader cancer pipeline applies mRNA to encode tumor-specific antigens, immune stimulators, and other proteins intended to generate or strengthen antitumor immune responses.
Rare-Disease Therapeutics
The company is also developing systemic mRNA therapeutics for inherited metabolic diseases, including programs designed to restore missing intracellular enzymes. These candidates extend the platform beyond prophylactic vaccines into repeat-dose medicines for genetically defined disorders.
