Amphastar Pharmaceuticals develops, manufactures, and commercializes technically challenging injectable, inhaled, intranasal, and other pharmaceutical products. Its portfolio combines proprietary brands, complex generics, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and selected biosimilar programs.
Proprietary Products
The company's branded products include BAQSIMI nasal glucagon, Primatene MIST, REXTOVY, Amphadase, and Cortrosyn. These products give Amphastar direct exposure to diabetes rescue, respiratory care, opioid overdose, diagnostic use, and other specialty markets.
Complex Generic Medicines
Amphastar supplies sterile injectables and other complex generics that require specialized development, manufacturing, and regulatory capabilities. Its products are distributed through wholesalers, retailers, hospitals, and group purchasing organizations.
Integrated Manufacturing and APIs
The company manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients through its ANP subsidiary and operates finished-dose facilities for sterile and nonsterile products. Vertical integration supports supply control, product economics, and development of medicines with technically demanding formulations or devices.
Biosimilar and Proprietary Pipeline
The pipeline includes a filed biosimilar insulin candidate, an additional filed abbreviated new drug application, other biosimilar and generic programs, and in-licensed proprietary peptides for oncology and ophthalmology. Amphastar is also developing a fully synthetic corticotropin compound for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
