Oncology-Focused Biopharmaceutical Company
Summit Therapeutics is building an oncology business around ivonescimab, a bispecific antibody designed to inhibit both PD-1 and VEGF. The company holds development and commercialization rights in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and selected other territories through its partnership with Akeso.
Dual PD-1 and VEGF Mechanism
Ivonescimab combines immune-checkpoint blockade with anti-angiogenic activity in a single molecule. Its tetravalent design is intended to concentrate VEGF inhibition in the tumor microenvironment while preserving the antitumor immune activity associated with PD-1 blockade.
Broad Lung Cancer Program
The development program spans EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer after tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy and first-line squamous and nonsquamous disease. Multiple global Phase 3 studies are evaluating ivonescimab with chemotherapy or as part of other treatment combinations.
Expansion Across Solid Tumors
Summit is exploring ivonescimab beyond lung cancer through external combination studies and additional tumor types, including colorectal and head and neck cancers. Collaborations with other oncology companies provide access to complementary mechanisms without requiring Summit to internally own every combination asset.
Partner-Enabled Global Development
Akeso retains rights in China and other licensed territories and provides an extensive clinical dataset from its own studies. Summit uses those data, together with global trials conducted under its rights, to support regulatory submissions and commercial planning in major Western markets.
