Intracellular Protein Delivery
Larimar Therapeutics develops fusion proteins that deliver functional biological material into cells. Its lead program addresses a rare disease caused by deficiency of the intracellular protein frataxin.
Nomlabofusp
Nomlabofusp is a recombinant fusion protein designed to deliver human frataxin into the mitochondria of patients with Friedreich’s ataxia. The therapy is intended to address the underlying protein deficiency rather than only manage disease symptoms.
Accelerated-Approval Strategy
Larimar is working with the FDA on a BLA using skin frataxin as a biomarker and matched natural-history comparisons for clinical outcomes. A global confirmatory Phase 3 trial is planned to be underway at submission and uses change in the Upright Stability Score as its primary endpoint.
Platform Expansion
Beyond Friedreich’s ataxia, Larimar intends to use its intracellular delivery technology to create fusion proteins for other rare diseases caused by deficiencies in intracellular bioactive compounds.
