Neoadjuvant Cancer Immunotherapy Company
CEL-SCI develops immunotherapies intended to activate the immune system before conventional cancer treatment. Its lead program is directed at newly diagnosed head and neck cancer patients with a defined clinical and biomarker profile.
Multikine Lead Program
Multikine, also known as Leukocyte Interleukin Injection, is a mixture of immune-active proteins administered around the tumor and nearby lymph nodes. Treatment is given before surgery and radiotherapy, when the immune system is less affected by prior cancer therapy.
Head and Neck Cancer Population
The planned confirmatory program focuses on patients with advanced primary squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck who have no lymph-node involvement and low tumor PD-L1 expression. This subgroup was identified from the company's completed Phase 3 study.
Confirmatory Registration Strategy
The FDA has allowed a confirmatory registration study designed to reproduce the survival benefit observed in the selected population. CEL-SCI must finance and execute this study before Multikine can support a regulatory submission.
LEAPS Research Platform
The company also owns the LEAPS peptide-based immunotherapy platform. Earlier research has explored LEAPS candidates in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis.
