Autologous Cell-Therapy Developer
BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics is developing autologous cellular therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Its programs use a patient's own cells to deliver neuroprotective and immunomodulatory factors in disorders characterized by progressive neuronal damage.
NurOwn Technology
NurOwn, also known as MSC-NTF, is manufactured from mesenchymal stem cells collected from a patient's bone marrow. The cells are expanded and differentiated outside the body to secrete neurotrophic factors intended to support neuronal survival and modulate neuroinflammation before being administered back to the patient.
ALS Development Program
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is the lead indication for NurOwn. The candidate has received orphan-drug designation in the United States and European Union and has completed a Phase 3 study that informed the design of a new confirmatory program.
ENDURANCE Phase 3b Study
ENDURANCE is a planned approximately 200-patient Phase 3b trial operating under an FDA Special Protocol Assessment. It includes a 24-week randomized, placebo-controlled portion followed by a 24-week open-label portion, with change in ALS Functional Rating Scale-Revised score serving as the primary endpoint for the controlled stage.
Broader Regenerative Pipeline
BrainStorm has also completed a Phase 2 study of NurOwn in progressive multiple sclerosis. Beyond its autologous cell program, the company is exploring an allogeneic exosome platform as a potential delivery system for therapeutic proteins and nucleic acids.
